Configured device with Wireless 802.1X_ not able to connect

Nile supports both Wireless and Wired 802.1X connections. 

1.  Verify if there are any DOT1X authentication attempts from the client side.

 By checking the Device List from Nile Portal we could see particular client logs events:

How to get MAC address of device:

a.  Navigate to: Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections

b. Right click on Wireless adapter and click on Status:

c.  On the Wireless Ethernet Status window click on Details:

d. MAC address of device will be listed as Physical Address:

2.  If there are no Devices found for that particular MAC address, that means there is no Dot1x authentication attempts from client side.

3. Verify of connecting SSID is configured for DOT1X:

 From Nile Portal Settings -> Wireless, click on pencil of Wireless Service you are trying to connect and make sure it is configured as WPA2 Enterprise Security:

4.  Verify 802.1X supplicant configuration from client side.

Client could be running different  variety of DOT1X supplicants like:

- Windows native supplicant.

- Cisco Anyconnect

- MAC OSX native supplicant 

(please check vendor documentation for particular supplicant configuration)

In our particular example, out PC client is Windows PC and should be running Windows native DOT1X supplicant.

From PC Start-> Services, we need to enable WLAN AutoConfig Service by clicking Start:

4.  Verify DOT1X supplicant configuration.

On this particular example, we will have EAP-PEAP(EAP-MSCHAP v2) password based authentication configured.

a. From Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center

Click to Set up new connection or network:

b. Then from opened windows select Manually connect to wireless network:

c. Fill up next window with:

-   Network name (SSID name assigned from Nile Portal). 

-   Security type: 802.1x

d.  Select Change connection settings:

e. From security Tab configure:

Authentication method:  Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)

Settings -> Authentication method: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)

Advanced settings -> Specify authentication mode: User authentication.

5.  Checking back Nile Portal to see DOT1X authentication:

Same MAC address filtering shows that PC successfully connected:
