RADIUS Alerts for Client Devices
The Nile Access Service continuously monitors the RADIUS authentication transactions across all connected client devices. When a significant percentage of clients encounter RADIUS failures, the Nile Access Service generates alerts to notify the network administrators.
The Nile Access Service uses the following thresholds to determine when to generate RADIUS alerts:
If 5% to 10% of the clients attempting RADIUS transactions in the last 15 minutes have encountered failures, the following alert is generated:
RADIUS Alert: 5% <= Clients < 10% <# number> of clients attempting RADIUS transactions in the last 15 minutes encountered failures at <site> for <x hrs/mins>
If 10% to 25% of the clients attempting RADIUS transactions in the last 15 minutes have encountered failures, the following alert is generated:
RADIUS Alert: 10% <= Clients < 25% <# number> of clients (>10%) attempting RADIUS transactions in the last 15 minutes encountered failures at <site> for <x hrs/mins>
If 25% to 100% of the clients attempting RADIUS transactions in the last 15 minutes have encountered failures, the following alert is generated:
RADIUS Alert: 25% <= Clients <= 100% <# number> of clients (>25%) attempting RADIUS transactions in the last 15 minutes encountered failures at <site> for <x hrs/mins>
The RADIUS alert is "closed" when the condition is cleared, i.e., when less than 5% of the clients are encountering RADIUS failures.
The RADIUS alerts are categorized as "Client Devices" in the Nile Cloud Services Portal's alert table. When a user clicks on the alert, they are taken to the "Devices" page, which displays the filtered list of devices with the corresponding RADIUS errors.
By providing these RADIUS alerts, the Nile Access Service helps network administrators quickly identify and address any issues related to RADIUS authentication, ensuring the seamless operation of the network infrastructure.
